  • Just to add a couple more things. Calypso red is staying and it'll get a fresh paint job at one point. The engine is currently working great, but it will eventually need the timing chain replaced because of the noise, hence the idea to go 3 million steps further and do the upgrades I mentioned in the video. Don't expect a new episode on this project any time soon as I first need to find a bigger place in order to get the ball rolling with this build!

    • Sell it! Save money for the new M car project. I dont like the 8series, i prefer the old 7series, 5series

    • We don't care if you make a new episode for this project...just make videos in any BMW.Almost a week is gone..and we are addicted.

    • We understand. Not only you have many projects going, but also it must be difficult to have so many concurrent projects at the same time, in both terms of space and money. Cheers from Portugal!

    • Great video, look forward to seeing your latest videos, on a different note, I was going to get a t shirt, but you don't do them for the manly man size 😉 maybe you should do a ccooommiinngg up mug...??

    • i'd try to restore the original paint, in doubt give the car to professional detailers. It'll save the value of the car (because a repaint rises doubt of accident free sheet metal). Sorry for my faulty wnflish. Greets from Germany.

  • I love the idea of doing a hot rod build!

  • this is like ASMR for real men

  • FYI figured out why he sold previous 850s half finished: He has fully done another black 850 before youtube (TUV and all) that took ages to sell, while the half done (very well done tbh) gets sold as a successful project. More importantly, by registering it in Germany he essentially limits the buyers to Germany while in "export mode" from COO it can be more easily bought by anyone in Europe, or outside it. Who also gets to keep the yellow headlights.

  • By binge watching your videos, I'm really, really tempted to buy an 8 series in Spain and wrench on it.

  • Will you detail it?

  • More power!

  • i hope you dont say "they" when you are referring to previous mechanic. because sometime, it was the owner who did the job. maybe he wanted a permanent LAST fix, who knows.

  • SUPERCHARGE IT

  • 24:35 lift the rear axle and you can accelerate to as much as you like)))

  • Ate, its better than febest)))

  • Une magnifique marseillaise bavaroise

  • Best, Channel, EVER! Thanks Sreten for such high quality content!! Keep on going. #keepitoem

  • Good god youtube... could you insert any more ads? It makes all this content unwatchable!

  • Does anyone know what brand his ratchet is? The blueish one..

  • What does everyone's think the new car will be? I am guess that it is an E28 M5

  • Awesome content as always. Softens my heart to see all the trouble you go through to restore these wonderful machines into their former glory. Thanks for keep on giving Sreten!

  • Audi fan here: an old 8 series BMW? Ja, ja! Zehr gut! Keep up the good work!

  • It’s nice to see how serviceable the parts on this car are. Green is being able to repair individual parts, not throw them away and replace each time.

  • You can rent dry ice blasting kit, no need to buy unless you will be offering this as a service? As for finding a bigger place, have you considered renting an "industrial unit" as they are called in UK? I must admit I was shocked when you mentioned "hot dogging (LOL)" that venerable old gentleman of a 8-series! No respect for your elders lol

  • So love youre videos. So much fun to watch. You are a great mechanic.

  • Bro I listen to ur videos like I listen to podcasts in the background lol

  • Sreten, how did you learn all this stuff?

  • Hello Sreten! Here’s some article about your work in our land! 🍻

  • love your channel, nice revivals! keep it classy keep it oem!!

  • Finally I have now watched every M539 video. Enjoyed them all, thank you! You've inspired me to get my E61 520D back to its best, even though I hate the N47, (I'm on my second engine after the first one ate it's timing chain).

  • i swear that dangling piece of plastic looked like a blinking light from a cell phone ... wehn you had a missing call or something ...

  • Back when BMW was “The Ultimate Driving Machine”. Good old times!

  • to make long story short, insta - liked and subscribed.... oh my days the level of understanding you have on bmw mechanics in my humble opinion is unbelievable, at least for me it is. I own a N53 e92 325i with beige interior and Monaco Blue (looks black at first sight, that's what people tell me as well lol), I can send you some phone photos/videos if you like. Take care

  • Im guessing a E36 and a Nissan Figaro if it is indeed a Nissan

  • Truly, the best channel on youtube. Sincerely hope to meet this guy, a living legend, one day.

  • Sreten, you are a beast. This is maybe second or third channel on YT that I ever watched without skipping a beat. Really awesome job, and it is a joy and pleasure watching you restore cars. Hope you never stop doing it, and that you find more hidden gems. And hopefully you find a bigger place where you can move more freely. Cheers from Serbia!

  • I really love your videos, i have seen them all many times. I hope one day i can have a workshop and restore my e36 like you restore your cars :)

  • wasnt that a gearbox arm broke when undoing drain plug?! Watched four times. huh?

  • 28:38 whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat i can hear whistle and metal knocks

  • @M539 Restorations I am wondering if you can help me out. I have a 1991 bmw e36 325i that im restoring and I want to be able to read the codes. how do you do that I've seen you pull code but you dont metion what you use and what program you're running on you laptop (maybe you have but then I missed it) I really love what you do and how you do it and it would be great if you can help me out :) the 325i is Calypso red BTW I honestly wish you the best and good luck with your SEnewss adventure.

  • Awesome! With pleasure I watched every video of each project he did, doing and which is starts with sentence "Coming up". Thanks.

  • Great job. Huge master you are. Love to watch this. Greetings from Lettland!

  • Nice video once again. Thanks for sharing your amazing restorations. I learnt a lot to take care of my e46 325xi! For this e31 I love this color combination (though blue is also my favorite color as well) I wouldn't re-paint the whole car. If this is a too-long-term project you could also sell this car once it gets TüV. I'm pretty sure you could find a new owner rather easily. Who knows, it could go back to France ?

  • Ahhh man this is crazy i know someone that has the Same car like i mean the exact same one but grey , its just sitting there not being driven at all, i am going to ask the man if he wants to sell the car because i really like it.....

  • Could you jack up the back of the car to do the throttle body re-sync? Or does it need the resistance of being on the road so it decelerates more slowly?

  • This song, although it’s from 1978, fits the car really well: senewss.info/slow/j7exl8mTqbyXn7o/video

  • Whaaat, an E31 850i, with its magnificent V12 and manual transmission, came with an open diff from factory? :o

  • What's the song at 31:06 ? Anyone know?

    • ELFL - Octadrone VI btw I made a little playlist... senewss.info/have/PLzVom0EnfFC4F6G50cwu7cUQfqh56cS2D.html

  • A ‘gander’ under the hood! I’m guessing you spent some time in the UK? Love the videos by the way.

  • still waiting for M3 E9x !!! please

  • It would be nice to see how the discs (rotors) cleaned up during those stops. I never fit new pads and discs to garden finds like this straightaway. I simply make sure pistons and slide pins are doing what they should and let them clean up 'naturally' by themselves; then reassess later. Can we see how the discs and brakes generally have responded during these short braking runs please?

  • Red E31...senewss.info/slow/grerldCBpa7Rksw/video

  • I guess he's about to restore a E28 m5 that would awesome 👌

  • Restore a e36

  • This channel has everything a BMW car enthusiast needs! So great!

  • In Russia there is 850 with S58B30 + DCT transmission. But we still waiting it on the road, project is in progress.

  • As a suggestion find a friend who is a Panelbeater come Painter who loves BMWs as much as you and do a trade you fix the mechanical on his project in exchange for a paint job- Great videos look forward every week to a new one . Woke up at 3.30 am checked and watch you latest. cheers

  • Coffee tastes better when I hear that: Coooooooming up! =))

  • Sell it to me ....I’ll bring it to TX

  • respect! very details. I know you said the dry ice is an expensive tool but would love to see you clean the car that way. Would add on very good content! senewss.info/slow/r5fVZsp-adK5bdA/video comingggggggg up!

  • OEM 🙂

  • "as well"

  • You need to give it a good clean. I would keep Calypso red but there is a big scratch down one side so that needs attention.

  • After 10 years sitting, I should not worry too much of bit rough idling or little noises. Just give it a 5.000 km drive! I had many BMW's which came to life after years......week by week they started to drive better. Suspension, engine, transmission.......everything comes 'loose'.....!

  • MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR HAS TO BE REPLACED TOO.

  • Another quality video thank you very much!

  • I am old school. Every time I see this latex gloves I think about a rectal check my doctor once had to perform.

  • Again a great video. Learning a lot, thanks! 11:45: how can you change gloves so fast? 😄

  • Wow very skilled . I learn something everyday I didn’t realize that drive by wire went that far back but again seem tho other manufactures were ahead of the tech and times

  • Running in the nineties, is a new way I like to be I'm just running in the nineties, come on baby run to me We are running in the nineties, is a new way to set me free I'm just running in the nineties Yes I wanna know, yes I wanna see

  • The chicken skin rubber gloves were -- tasty..? Great stuff as always sir!

  • Hope is not you who bought that car from Spain , car i wanted to buy and someone negociated over me . It was a bmw 740 e38 manual transmission

  • Flawless...as usual. Love it keep up the hard work.

  • The best Bmw specialist :) i wrote u On insta please answer me

  • How do you make changing the timing chain tensioner look so easy? I had a terrible fight with mine trying to compress the spring. Took me two days and two lacerated hands! All good now with NO NOISE !!!!

  • Sorry to step on foot with advice to a master - with great respect for one so brave as to delve into the guts of the 850, when a guys been down that road its inevitable that the same hurdles can appear, the forum is where I found answers, that is where any tricks should be shared. Not on a Guys comment section - Sorry

  • Would love to see an E24 restoration!

  • 14:21 am I the only one that saw a transmission mount snap off?👀

  • 14:41 spider ahhh

  • Ur opinion how long do you think the suspension bushings, links last?. Preventing maintenance they should be replace every - miles? My car is 106k miles. Got it at 67miles. Bmw 2012 F10 550

  • Mate thanks for good explanation color on this valencia orange good near red ish it will good whit interia well good job

  • "And you won't harm the dirt"

  • man nice intro! your videos are so awesome! keep uploading man!

  • I understand that you can not post a test-drive on public road, but was it good😉😎? Everyone knows that you took it for a spin at least on the road connected to your garage road🤪

  • Wash and detail next my friend.

  • whenever i see someone turning the steering wheel while the car is fully stopped it hurts (because the steering rods have to take so much force even thow the driver doesn't feel it due to the power steering.)

  • Keep it red, I like it.

  • so we have 35 downs in opposite to 17k ups.. makes a tiny 0.2% a**hole-quote..... yep, screwing on old mighty BMWs is a happy place. Real life pushes this quote to 10%....

  • Eres increíble😎

  • Great work!

  • gj bro keepet up

  • subscribed, great videos. my dad had a 1996 540i and loved it for 8 years,he passed away nearly 5 years ago suddenly and old bmws remind me of him. keep up the great work

  • You made my day! Once again! I would love the car being restored with reasonable effort - the technical issues at least seem to be obvious, the paint / bodywork might be an issue.

  • E34 M5 coming up?

  • Great idea!! Hot rod it!! I personally love the calypso red color. Maybe it’s common in Europe but here in the USA you almost never see it. Loved this episode.

  • Do the OEM+ build! You probably saw my E31 on facebook at somepoint, I did that. Lots of time and money spent but it was worth it! The only thing I am missing is the better rear diff, Wokke Chips (not sure if they will work properly since I have no Cats and well I have M73 block and heads). I got to take care of the suspension alignment and a few other little things. I think the last major thing I want to do to mine is wrap it. Its currently jet black.

  • First time I watch a video from your channel, I enjoyed and subbed! Finally some garage channel from EU, and with such a passionate and experienced guy with a sense of humor haha :)

  • Hot dog this car brother 🤣. Amazing video as always

  • In a parallel universe you just revived a V12 Mercedes that's been sitting for 10 years

  • Best narrator ever. You put Morgan Freeman to shame ! 🤣😂

  • Was machst du mit den ganzen Fahrzeugen, verkaufst du die?

  • Pity you don’t continue on this one. Finally felt like a cool project to follow again. I think it’s better to work on one project from start to finish to have a consistent story to watch. Btw will you ever consider a project with another car brand? Maybe a Mercedes? Would be nice to get your feedback in comparison to bmw
