AlphaDog Proto

Publicerades den 29 sep 2011
The AlphaDog Proto is a lab prototype for the Legged Squad Support System, a robot being developed by Boston Dynamics with funding from DARPA and the US Marine Corps. When fully developed the system will carry 400 lbs of payload on 20-mile missions in rough terrain. The first version of the complete robot will be ready in 2012. This video shows early results from the lab where we are developing the control systems and locomotion platform. This lab prototype is powered remotely. AlphaDog will draw power from an internal combustion engine, which we designed to be 10x quieter than BigDog. The field version of AlphaDog will have a sensor head packed with terrain sensors. Boston Dynamics leads a development team that includes AAI Corp, Bell Helicopter, CMU/NREC, FEV, JPL and Woodward HRT. For more information visit us at www.BostonDynamics.com.

  • 0:47 this guy said "help!"

  • Next thing you know it there's adoptable mechanical dogs

  • Imagine one of those sprinting at you full speed

  • so, we have AlphaDog, BigDog, and LittleDog. when are you guys gonna make BetaDog, MediumDog, OmegaDog, or MicroscopicDog?

  • Круть

  • Im calling Animal protection services

  • its so capable!

  • Does some guy have the job title, "Robot Abuser"?

  • Where is BetaDog

  • 0:53 here we see the laws of physics working in favor of the robot.

  • I hope Atlas wont see the videos of you kicking his robot friends.

  • Guys. Seeing the progress you have made in such a short time is awesome!

  • some guy: Kicks robot as hard as he can* Robot: Doesn't even care

  • Very good implementation, could you please help me to understand, how it is identifying object in front of robo and how robot is standing by itself, what are the different software algorithms are used in these implementations...

  • Smart dog but he could have walked from the side instead of walking on the rock

  • 1:14 I'm back!

  • It seems to me that mechanical legs are superfluous for robots. You can also come up with a special wheel, for example, like a bicycle, ie with rods that have a rubber tip at the ends, or like a vehicle, just do not use a stroke, it seems to me that they are more expensive than pumps

  • At least this one doesn't have a chainsaw in it

  • LS3

  • Great job👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  • bruh who told you you were allowed to make metal gear real

  • they're gonna remember all the times you've pushed/kicked them

  • This video really put into perspective how they teach these robots to move and respond to certain stimuli.

  • I'm always amazed by how they move, how they get their legs move like real dogs' and all. It has a source of power in it, like a machine and I'm just amazed. Wow.

  • The way it rights itself is hilarious and badass.

  • And he`s got a cannon too... :-)

  • Its look more like a cow dude,,,,,,cow. Lol

  • 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  • 1:07 it just wants a belly rub :D

  • Its that big that it looks more like a horse

  • Alpha as fuck!

  • robot doggo

  • AT-AT PROTOTYPE!!!

  • All these things show is that there is immense design put into robots. And how much more complicated are those who design said robots. Yet, we're told that we as humans everything in the vastness of space was created by accident with no cause or designer. Sure, sure we were. And this robo-dog is just a tube of aluminum foil that sat around a few hundred million years

    • Didn't bring up religion, or God, Christianity or my beliefs. Both of your comments infer far too much. However, when something is designed it demands a designer, PERIOD. The dog is designed. We can see that. My question is, when I or you look in the mirror why don't we see that? @pixel If you think someone posting a comment is 'forcing beliefs' you're thin skinned and probably should stay inside for you will be offended and hurt far too much if you leave your computer. My comment is simple satire pointing out the insane beliefs that people hold saying that nothing created everything.

    • Can't you just watch a video without immediately forcing your beliefs upon everyone? And what the hell does a robot horse have to do with creationism bullcrap? I personally don't believe in god, or any of that stuff, but that doesn't mean I go around taking every opportunity to say, "Religion is stupid and if you believe in god you suck". I completely respect your beliefs, just don't be and asshole about it. Basically, believe what you want, just don't be an ass about it.

    • And Christianity leads you to believe that some otherworldly flood wiped off all animals on Earth? Cause having no evidence of it ever happening besides being written in an old book seems to point otherwise. Also the fact that out of the hundreds of thousands of different animals in the world, they managed to fit a male and female of every one of them, including insects, mammals, reptilian and birds, into a wooden boat. I would love to see Noah's list of every animal on board, or at bare minimum some description of those animals. Too bad the Bible is as vague as it is ridiculous, otherwise there'd be many more followers... Those stone tablets, the 10 Commandments. If they were given to Moses directly from God, wouldn't have the followers cherished it to the point that it would still be here, intact? A gift, literally coming from the heavens! Oh, but let's just misplace such an artifact and make our stories sound idiotic.

  • One day we will look back at things like thee and think.. wow, we were really bad at making robots once.

    • @Sanjeet K lmao

    • @Kechto oh yeah, look at it now though it ****ing dances now!

    • look at it now

    • You have to start somewhere

    • Already am

  • moob mob vim

  • Fuck this shit, I'm out.

  • I can't wait for your next video!

  • We're fucked..

  • the best part is at 10:08 , the way how it stands !

  • ok at 1:07 i can imagine something pushed it over and when its getting up it would say "Oh you messed with the wrong machine"

  • I really want to ride one of these things. TO NARNIA!

  • Love you guys. Obviously, since I put this in my book! (Pandemonium)

  • 1:02 i swear thats mr white from breaking bad lol, pushing the robot

  • Such doge Very balance Much epic Wow!

  • We don't need to wait for it to become self aware for this to be freaky. Human flaws and propensity for making bad decisions make this freaky enough.

    • They can barely balance themselves...

    • just imagine these things thinking by themselves thoe..... AAAAAAAHHH RUN! THEY ARE COMMING!

    • well said . . .

  • Забавно)

  • My question is what would Google want with this type of Technology?

  • The rubble = ruined human cities

  • They just keep getting bigger

  • I'm aiming for its legs :), you'll never take me alive SKYNET!

  • 戦わせられるの? 対戦ゲーム 見てみたい!

  • i know what code they use to make it run "a left a left a left right left"

  • it will initiate the "curse" and "bad mouth" protocol.

  • You WILL regret pushing that Dog in the near future

  • parade robot

  • I always feel bad when they kick/push it

  • Your able to very easily earn over 3000 dollars every month simply by responding to easy online surveys at home. This website shows exactly how EARN88.COM When the lights are about to burn out and start flickering, it’s like I’m blinking without blinking.

  • what if it goes face, and front legs first down a deep deep hole?

  • again scary/weird but cool but scary

  • Everyone be quiet, I hear the enemy approaching... CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP!

  • the front of it looks like someone running forward and back someone running backwards

  • this is the funniest thing i read today haha thank you.

  • Well, you could put trophy countermeasures on it, Cause man it would suck to lose one of these.

  • So lets entertain your notion that this isn't a scam. How would you know if you just signed up a few minutes ago and havnt gotten anything in the mail?

  • I don't get how people say this isn't a big deal or this technology is useless. This thing can carry a lot of gear. Just the fact of it being mobile can open a whole avenue of possibilities. Imagine a much much larger version that can be deployed by air or just follows platoons around and can basically unpack itself from its mobile form to a defense structure. It doesn't even have to be an offensive weapon, there's so many possibilities for robots.

  • im sure this is just the skeleton. I don't see this thing going to war without being able to tank some serious damage. Eitherway robots could make a very good distraction for ground troops

  • I salute all people responsible for this project . excellent work.

  • So? Still cheaper than a human life, right?

  • PRISM, Patriot Act, National Defense Authorization Act. Yeah... I would feel very safe. Your government is there to "protect" "you" at all costs, right? Even at the cost your constitution and Bill of Rights, freedom and privacy...

  • Mommy I know what I want for Christmas!!!

  • Yea but you do realize these machines are able to run from 15-30 mph?

  • GOOD BOY I WANT ONE

  • when that thing got up I was like Transformers don't lie fools

  • Naive? LOL! Go back to your cave Troll.

  • Naive? LOL! Go back to your cave Troll.

  • Yeah this website is just sending out free Pink Apple iPad 3's for today only. You have to be fill out your address but it is all real, I claimed my one a few minutes ago. Better hurry up! UPAD3.COM Insanity is hereditary: you get it from your children.

  • Do you have 20$ RPG rounds for sale? Cuz I don't...

  • How naive you are.

  • mount a sentry gun with a thermo cam computerized targeter

  • creepy ass spider robot

  • The vbeid that cost 600.00 (including the car) might not make the dollar cost averaging work..

  • This gave me chills. Armed this is a dangerous machine. Glad it is ours. Best engineers in world. Big thanks to all the folks at Boston Dynamics. Making our country stronger and the world safer one robot at a time.

  • Wrong, most RPG hits to modern Western tanks hardly ever penetrate, and if they do, they do no damage.

  • I agree with this assessment. A guided rocket would fare much better.

  • TL;DR DON'T WASTE MY MOTHERFUCKING TIME.

  • Since you can't seem to use google, I found a study that was done on a 15 ft. wide, 7.5 ft. tall board that was moving at 9 mph. Let's say the RPG operator is within 100-200 meters. With the board, the 100 m mark had a 96% hit rate, while 200 had a 51%. Alpha Dog seems to be about 10 ft. across, so let's just do a rough estimate in change. Perhaps ~85% and ~38%? Now, let's average that. ~61.5%. This is a well-trained soldier. I believe Alpha Dog would survive more than 50% of the attacks on it.

  • Trust me, they will get a direct hit. So.. um...gonna admit your wrong now?

  • Oh, and side-note: Apparently everyone thinks that my argument is that Alpha Dog would survive a direct hit from and RPG. NO. I'm saying that it is unlikely for Alpha Dog to be destroyed due to the fact that hitting it would be difficult due to size and movement. I could be wrong, but prove that I am, rather than being like Horrigan and spouting about ignorance and using internet memes.

  • Oops, accidentally stated the same thing twice. Sorry.

  • I never said a direct hit wouldn't destroy a tank. I said it was unlikely that an RPG operator would get a direct hit on Alpha Dog. And based on Alpha Dog's size, the operator of the RPG would probably hit outside of the kill-zone. If anyone can find a ballistics study on RPGs (Preferably on accuracy) that proves me wrong, I would happily thank them for being constructive. Also, I never said a direct hit couldn't destroy a tank, so that was really irrelevant.

  • A direct hit can destroy a tank. Stop trying to justify your ignorance, sir.

  • A thermobaric charge for the RPG would destroy this. It is unlikely that the RPG operator would get a direct hit, as Alpha Dog looks like its about the size of two people side-by-side. Therefore, a standard RPG would cause minimal damage to it if it had armor plating due to the fact that the armor would (hopefully) be covering any wiring/mechanical parts. A tank is much larger and the operator can in fact score a direct hit. So that comparison doesn't work due to size differences.

  • To me, it looks like a brick with legs.

  • From what i could find, thousands here in the states, and like 1-500 bucks in russia. Who the hell wants to buy rocket ammo though :T

  • Ya for police state!

  • Yes, Rockets are $20...

  • Today it walks on the ground, tomorrow it walks on our bodies!
