  • Wow! You were on your game today. It really comes through how much you enjoyed this game. And good teaching moments 😅

  • Thank you GM Daniel, you're the best chess commentator ever.

  • Great video! I've never understood why people play the Philidor with Be7 and then Bf8. Isn't g6 and Bg7 a better version?

  • Thanks Daniel, good analyses. Also, I didn't know that B+N vs Q can be a draw, if played imprecise.

  • This game displays the tremendous might of the two. Really such precision and foresight.

  • Danny, have you ever thought about using Split Rooks as a band name?

  • Fantastic job, Daniel!

  • That looks like a vintage Fender, is it a Jazz or a P?

    • @Joanna Lewis Total confusion! Just keep playing the bass...

    • @PowerPlayChess I thought the Mafia may have persuaded you to offer me a draw in our upcoming tiddly winks match and under those circumstances you would have been wise to follow their advice. It seems that wasn't the case. Apologies for the confusion

    • @Joanna Lewis ?? Don't understand!

    • @PowerPlayChess the Mafia will be delighted. Good choice.

    • @Joanna Lewis I offer a draw.

  • What a disgusting pronounciation of the name “Karjakin”. It definitely can’t be worse.

  • Great analysis as always. Thanks monsieur King.

  • Fantastic analysis. Thanks for this

  • Why Dd2,to put your queen on the lines of blacks rook.Big mistake

  • It is interesting that the two players were about equal and now there is a huge rating difference.

  • I should have found this incredible channel much sooner

  • If Carlsen could play the Philidor against a strong player and not lose, it would be the end of everything.

  • Karjakin played well

  • Superb analysis. you put an extra effort in this one more than usual.

  • another great video. anytime Dk says "this looks like a natural move" you know whoever made it is in trouble!

  • Thanks!

  • Since I started to follow Daniel, my chess suck a little less....

  • Thanks , keep up the good work 👌

  • Thank You for the Q vs N+B endgame lesson !

  • A very good video. nothing more to say.

  • I don't think that trapping the queen is the problem after Nxd4, Bh3 - he would get a rook and a piece and maybe even a pawn for the queen, but that black loses the F5 square and white breaks through.

  • Very happy that I found Bg4 quite quickly after briefly considering h5, albeit with no pressure and your warning about white's king being exposed on the second rank.

  • Excellent game and superb commentary i felt i was myself at the board in the tournament hall

  • Straightforward, clear, and fun analysis, thanks.

  • The video takes as long as the game itself 😃 certainly worth it. Thanks for the analysis. I also enjoyed the fortress option.

  • One of the most gripping games and analysis I have seen in a long time, well, not that long, GM King is known for his amazing videos! The last lesson in building a fortress was really instructive.

  • Carlsen once said he did not believe in fortress. That he could break them down

  • Sir Daniel King, CBE 😉 Excellent in-depth analysis as always

  • Great analysis! Complex positions, tactics, piece unbalance, rooks split, zugzwang and .... tea !

  • Rather than a Pirc, Black's structure is more like an Old Indian Defense. Also in the analysis at 22:16 Black has the resource ...Rf2 which protects against the threat on f7 and forces the exchange of Rooks. He loses his e3 pawn, but it was lost in the game anyway. But Black looks bad anyway once White gets his Knight to f6.

  • Daniel, why do you think Magnus didn't aim for the knight and biship versus queen endgame, trying to establsih the fortress position? Was he tired and therefore missed it, or was he just assured that Karjakin would find the winning Qd6 move?

    • First, the ...Be7 move to reach the Q v B+N is not easy to see, when short of time. But in any case, Karjakin, I have no doubt, would be aware of the fortress and, as I demonstrated, it is very easy to prevent.

  • Nice! At the first think I missed the preliminary Bg4 and was looking at Ne4. And the endgame trick I was familiar with, as I especially like endgames. Thanks, GM King!

  • Please also analyse Vidit's game against MVL It was some amazing prep

  • could you make a video playing the guitar and/or bass? do you sing? 😉🙏

  • Very informative analysis at the end of bishop+knight vs. queen game, thanks.

  • Phenomenal analysis. Nice game by K.

  • do you like split rooks?

  • One of your best videos! Great and carefull narrative, lots of tricky situations, and a good game.

  • Thank you, excellant game and analysis.

  • loved GrandMaster King's passion in this one

  • Another classic from GM King. Long live the King! ;)

  • yayyyyyyyyy

  • Sir, Really beautiful game. The final fortress is ultimate one.

  • Nice game and nice fortress idea ;)

  • Excellent as always. I'll definitely remember that B+N vs Q fortress. The middlegame seemed a bit similar to the KID Makagonov, structurally with the White kingside pawns on h3-g4 and eyeing the black king.

  • Very nice system against the Philidor. Whenever you face the Philidor you know you have an advantage but it really is not that easy.

  • Superb video as usual, Daniel. I really enjoy how you give us expert analysis in a way that is both compelling and relatable. That tidbit at the end showing us the fortress with Bishop and Knight vs Queen - and how to defeat it - was the icing on the cake!

  • Excellent game , excellent analysis thank you Mr. Daniel

  • Excelent! Thanks for sharing!

  • Excellent analysis. It shows that chess is a game where anything can happen, even at the grandmaster level. Karjakin made many accurate moves in a row, but there were still 2 moments in the game where Carlsen could have equalized.

    • I'm pretty sure if I ever made it to the end of the game I would have fallen into that drawing trap!

  • Thank you, Daniel! You are just incredible!

  • The best chess analysit out there by far!

  • What’s the time control of this tournament?

    • Rapid 15min +10s for each move from the 1st move

  • Nice game by both players and great analysis as always. Alireza scored two brilliant wins against Aronian and Guijarro today as well and I suggest you guys take a look at them too.

  • Very interesting game and in-depth analysis thank you

  • Good morning

  • 👍🏾🥇💯✌🏾👋🏾🙏🏾👏🏾
