When your win probability is 95+% at the half and 99.7% at the start of the 4th quarter ... yes it's easy. It was a slow game .... being able to keep the score low by playing low tempo is just showing fear, no competitiveness. Yes, it was a low scoring slow game. At it was the lowest number of points scored all year..... but that didn't happen in a vacuum. You cant win unless you score more points than the other team ... playing a low tempo game doesn't get you a win unless you score 1. Eight (8) teams scored more points than ND did, four (4) 4 of them were unranked. 2. Lets look at margin of victory: - Ole Miss lost by 15 - Georgia lost by 17 - Florida lost by 6 - ND lost by 17 ... would been 24 if not for an onside kick recovery in garbage time. 3. Every game this year was an easy one except for Florida ... anything over 85% indicates little to worry about. Missouri - Alabama's Half time win probability = 99.6% A& M - Alabama's Half time win probability = 99.1% Ole Miss - Alabama's Half time win probability = 78.2%, 87.1% at end if 3rd quarter Georgia - Alabama's Half time win probability = 63.4%, , 55.8% at end if 3rd quarter Tennessee - Alabama's Half time win probability = 98.1% Mississippi State - Alabama's Half time win probability = 99.8% Kentucky - Alabama's Half time win probability = 99.8% Auburn - Alabama's Half time win probability = 98.5% LSU - Alabama's Half time win probability = 99.8% Arkansas - Alabama's Half time win probability = 99.9% Florida - Alabama's half time win probability = 78.9%, 78.9% at end of 3rd quarter Notre Dame - Alabama's Half time win probability = 94.8% Notre Dame - Alabama's end of 3rd quarter win probability = 99.7% Ohio State - Alabama's Half time win probability = 96.0% Ohio State - Alabama's end of 3rd quarter win probability = 99.9% So yes, when at half time, your win probability id 95% that's an easy win ... 1 in 20 chance of coming back .... when it's 99.7 at end of 3rd ... that's 1 in 333 chance of winning ... when you odds are over 300 to 1 that the other team can catch up, it's an easy win. In a non COVID year, that's when people are heading to the exits at the end of the 3rd quarter to beat the traffic. Given the above ... Georgia gave Alabama it's toughest game going into the 4th quarter with game up in the air and Alabama up by 4 points. Alabama applied themselves, scoring 3 unanswered TDs. Florida gave them their biggest scare... after the half, with an 18 point lead, Bama started taking it easy going almost exclusively to the running game and left the quarter w/ a 4 point lead. In the 4th, Bama went all out again coming out with a 6 point win. Florida kept it close right to the end. Old Miss was tied with Bama at half time, and down by 1 score at end of 3rd quarter. With 1 :29 left in the game it was still a 1 score game. So no, unlike Georgia, Florida and Ole Miss,..... ND was never in the game once the game from the midway point of the 2nd quarter.

As an Alabama graduate and fan, I don't know why ND can't be better. They have all the history, all the traditions and the exposure, yet they fail to attract the best high school talent. This is obviously a function of the Head Coach. ND needs a colorful, full throttle coach. They should be recruiting better than have been the last ten years. Notre Dame fans are among the best in the world.

They'll have to be a lot better against Ohio state to win. 3rd quarter lull almost got them beat against Florida. Only reason notre Dame couldn't take advantage of that same lull is because they just aren't good offensively at all. Ohio Stste can score at will. Bama will have to score every time they have possession. If they get a chance to slow the game down and run clock and keep fields and his offense on the sideline, they need to do it. Their defense isn't capable of stopping above average quarterbacks. If Corral and Trask boatraced that defense, then Justin Fields will too with great ease. If Bama has another scoreless third quarter or scores only 10 points in the second half, they will lose. The "saving the game plan" excuse is invalid. Ohio State has 12 films now to study. Bama didn't purposely shut it down, they failed to execute in the second half again. If that happens again? OSU wins.
