  • Great job guys

  • Damn!!!!!!!!! love to get my hands on one! just tuesday got my 2nd 2000 V70, from seattle to chicago! Best freaking car i ever owned besides my 1995 asto i had since new!

  • Back in the day when Volvo Wagons were cool and fast!

  • 🥰 the hills are alive, with the sound of music

    • Dyna-mite classic simplicity, thoughtful engineering considerations

  • There's something about a volvo on video that makes me want to buy my 04 s80 back

  • What caliber cannon those model years had?

  • What Adrian didn’t mention is that some V70s have a 3rd row seat facing rearwards

  • As an oil change technician I love old Volvos, good honest cars.

  • 850R is the ultimate Volvo of this era.

  • Where do you guys get your information? Far more then 400 of them made - I had a 1996 sedan platinum edition!

  • Very nice video i have my V70 1999 still running it has 321000 KMS very happy with my car Thanks for making the video.

  • one of the best sleeper vehicles, with a bit of work to the motor etc with out huge dollars they become a weapon plus raced the british touring car championship for many yrs

  • Thumbnail 1995 description 1996 lol

  • Love your channel, personality and the way you approach vehicles and their problems. I regret the fact that I do not live in your area. You would be my mechanic for life.!!!!!! All the best Car Wizard !!!!!!

  • Yay, a Volvo! Love the channel wizard / cheers from Sweden

  • The 850 existed in t5-r and R, atleast in europe

  • I bought a 2003 sl500 and I found out that I got cheated it has lots of problems, already drained my account, I need your help please.

  • Inspired to rebuild the engine in my 1996 850 Turbo Wagon. Been on the back burner for way too long.

  • Wasn't this the same engine series that had the problem of sucking oil into the intake? It turned out that the initial service cycle for the oil separation/vacuum system was too long and it needed to be serviced about every 30K miles, some folks had to service it every 15K to keep it from sucking oil into the intake. Mine had one nasty intake. I actually miss it. That and the AC condensers like to rot out and to do that repair you needed to pull the entire dash. Otherwise I miss my volvo from the mid-90s, the 5-cylender was a good motor, the oil sucking problem beside. Also the timing belt tensioners like to go out on em (get stuck).

  • How can Vovlo have so many horsepower? In the 70,s i had an Dodge Challenger -71 with only 380 hp and V8 7,2 liter engine! :)

  • As much as respect i have for "Bug Ninja", i can't help myself hearing calling him the ''butt ninja'' Internet has really put down a heavy toll on me, for which i apologise

  • So are the Turbo models better for this period of Volvos or Non Turbo? Any transmission issues?

  • Hè still can sell these cars.

  • Also the 940 could be had with an armrest cupholder system granted it was also terrible

  • Did he just forget the 850r and 850 t5r existed?!

  • Awesome video, btw a second mic for guests/Mr. Wizard would really pay off in sound quality.

  • I am Swedish and the Bug Ninja is so professional in the way of with calm just telling the story about the fetuers of Volvo. I can get a jobb in Sweden in 5 min :):):)

  • I had the v70. Absolutely mechanically bullet proof. But... the interior plastic crumbled. The dashboard literally breaks away from the bulk head. Electrical connector plastic casings crumble. ABS module fails though can be re-built. The exhaust noise is horrendous. Can't believe they would build a luxury car that was so loud. The auto gearbox always seemed to be in the wrong gear. Fuel economy 19mpg.

  • the 850R was the better version.

  • Platinums got the fog lights in the front bumper too 👍🏽

  • My dad had one without a turbo and it was red me and my brother had loads of fun in the back of it

  • There is a 850R, the GLT is a no turbo 170 hp car, The standard 850 have 140 hp and the only different is in the computer. Then they did a 2 liter version for Germay and Italy with 10 valves and 120 hp. Look upp the 850 T-gul. Thats a monster. Have a good one folks.

  • That is funny that Volvo had a commitment to the environment, and now it is a Chinese company who are the worst polluters on the planet and jokingly joined the Paris Climate Accord but say they won’t reduce emissions for 10 years or more, but we should just trust them. While the rest of the world is handicapped economically by punitive environmental regulations, China will reap the rewards of these policies.

  • Your Volvo expert has some faulty knowledge. R came in 850... Cupholders could be chosen as factory option from 740/760 and even in the 80s in 200series. You can get extra dongle for that factory stereo to get aux/bluetooth to it even. That one also misses all the under enginebay plastics. You could have 850 also with AWD. For you my favourite Car Wizard: The rear axle is deltalink not solid beam and it has swaybar on it.

  • I want it!

  • Give the guy a NEW FUEL FILTER rather than an oil change! That old filter will kill a fuel pump!

  • Another cool Volvo fact... just read a 2018 report by UK Police- since the XC90s introduction in 2003, vehicle on vehicle fatalities in XC90s on UK roads... zero. Wow....thats pretty good!

  • One thing you forgot to mention, as my 1997 wagon has one, under that second lift up in the trunk, there was an option for a third row seat, facing backwards! My kids used to love sitting back there. You have to be under 5' to fit, though. A nice throwback to wagons of the 60s and 70s.

  • That car has been designed to last and last, you change cars because you get bored with it, not because it stops working.

  • You didn't talk about the passive rear steer!

  • Volvo did paint other cars in pearl. Volvo color code 421 Dark Olive Pearl. I THINK it came out 94, not sure though.

  • "Years before anyone else".....except SAAB

  • I miss mines 🥺

  • General Colin Powell is a Volvo addict also.

  • My brother had a late 90's S70 T5. He hated it the quality and reliability were bad & got rid of it after a couple years.

  • The thing making me cringe the most are those hammer-on wheel weights. I'd never do that with the pegasus on my S40

  • VOLVO now a CHINESE CAR

  • the YELLOW and BLACK GRAPHITE 5 Stars were the Best

  • What a cool episode.

  • Thank you, that was interesting. I randomly came across this video today. I have one of the platinum editions in the sedan model and I really love this car. Its needed some work and am pretty much finished with the part replacements, which I have been using OEM parts. Some parts are unobtanium and a challenge to find like the seat foam. The seat covers I did find a source that makes the exact replacement. About the only parts that are not OEM are BBS rims and Bilstein shocks. I am at that point of taking care of a couple more things and calling it good to go. Its got a little bit of fender damage on the front passenger fender, and on the rear drivers fender. No rust, punctures or creases and the paint is still really good. The fun thing about this paint is that it literally changes colors depending on the outdoor light. I've seen it go from a Silver, to something like a pinkish hue, to a light beige, and all sorts of other hues. The only thing I would add to this video is if your thinking of getting one of these 850 turbos, now is the time to pick one up and take care of the bigger repairs. Because most parts can still be found without having to go with only wrecking yard or rebuild parts.

  • Neil Degrasee Bug Ninja. 😎

  • Comparing the safety technology to other manufacturers of luxury cars is pretty funny like volvo had it down in the mid 90s then bmw, benz, and lexus and even by the 2000s lincoln and caddy were just getting the seat airbags and whiplash headrests

  • Volvo V70 low turbo 1999, was a 2.5 turbo.

  • Bug is wrong about the V70 being the first R wagons, I have a 97 850 R wagon in bright red.

  • JAMES MAY

  • I miss my 98 S70.

  • T5 Perfect for ramraids in the UK

  • I had one like this one same color. Excellent cars. Volvo wagons are perfect cars to have especially if u get the all-wheel drive one.

  • Bug Ninja really does have a pretty good wealth of knowledge. Also, that voice. That's a great voice for videos or radio.

  • Nice car! I am a big wagon fan...

  • The 850 T5-R was the first use of the R back in 1994, there were two variants the T5 which was pretty much the same as the car you had in the video, and the homologation special which was the T5R which Raced in The British touring car championship back in 1994, interesting fact time: The only reason they raced the Estate/wagon was due to the lack of saloon chassis being available in time for full race development. hence why in 1995 they switched to the 850 saloons.

  • Like seeing Adrian doing surprise visits. 9:20 glove box “cup holders” . My dad had 1963 Austin Cambridge 4 dr diesel and glove box had more like whiskey shot holders for snaps or porcelain tea cup holders. But my Mercedes w210 had cup holders above switch gear and more then once I had to clean soda and coffee off the switch gear.

  • This is an awesome car! The rear sway bar is hard to spot on this because they don't have the typical endlink setup. You can see it at 17:34 right between the rear brake hose and the delta arm suspension. My first car was a '95 850 sedan and it was such a great car until it got rear ended while my sister was driving it. She suffered some acute neck pain but nothing more. I replaced it with a new 2001 S60 T5 which I still drive today! It's up to 210,000 miles now. Volvo for life.

  • Had a 1990 960, one of if not my favorite car I've owned. I loved that thing. One feature I loved that is never talked about is the internal door handles. The lever that slides back is so unique.

  • Ha someone wrote fuk on the timing cover

  • Volvo launched the AWD model of 850 in 1996, along with the LPT engine B5254T and the upgraded Motronic4.4 ECU. The first R(T5-R) model was released in 1995, in a color we swedes call "T-gul"(T-yellow). The T-gul was only available during 1995, 1996 they changed name to simply 850R and was available in a couple other colors(red/"T-röd", olive-green and black iirc). S/V70 was therefore NOT volvos first R-models... I know GLT is different over there in the US, but in sweden GLT was the only model of 850 from 1992 to 1994. 1994 introduced the SE model, sporting a 10-valve DOHC engine with a Fenix5.2 ECU, delivering 144hp as opposed to the GLT's (declared)170. Another fun fact was that the 1992 model of 850 had such aggressive cams, along with a variable intake(and a few other things), that it delivered up to 190hk stock. Not shabby for a NA 5-cyl, considering the big brother 6-cyl 960 only provided ~204hk. Unfortunately it got tamed as soon as 1993, and further tamed 1994 where it settled (and stayed) at roughly 165hp +-3hp. the 1992 model of 850 is a blast to drive, the newer GLT's are just... sad, frankly. (Please remember that I'm speaking of the swedish GLT models) While you are technically correct the non-turbo/T5 engines was 2.4's(2,435 cc, to be exact), they were sold as 2.5 all the way up to 1999 where they were forced to rename them due to new regulations. The actual displacement was closer to 2.4 than 2.5 after all... And, to call the S/V70 a "name change" is just wrong and borderline insulting, they may be based on the same P80 platform, but there are huge differences between them, and not just cosmetic ones. Another inaccuracy, which I saw already pointed out but it still irks me like hell, is the SIPS system. There is NO SENSOR IN THE B-PILLAR. The SIPS is 100% contained in the chairs and is 100% mechanical. It has a bigass trigger under the plastic, detachable, cover of the seat, and volvo even provides a big-ass bright-red handle/shield to block the trigger during handling of the chair. How the actual fuck does this "expert" not know this!? It wasn't until 1999 the SIPS bag got electronically controlled, long after 850 was gone from production. And why didnt he even mention the seatbelt tensioners? This seat-SIPS system is not exclusive to 850's at that time by the way, 940 and 960 also got the same system 1996-1998(and obviously the S/V70 97-98 as well)

  • I want to know who this so called expert is, shop name and info

  • How is this dude a specialist, Robert DYI SHOUL have been there

  • In Hoovies latest video I think I saw a red Volvo 245 in your shop. Can you do a video of it Wizard? 🙂

  • if you wanna film some special Volvos.. i got a 55k mile pristine V70R and a well built C30 in Az you can come check out.

  • The bent interactive conformably steer because node ganguly hate near a savory plaster. grumpy, nutritious opinion

  • Got a 2000 C70 T5 coupe, but really want an 850 T5R in gull yellow. Awesome engines, much better than modern rubbish now.

  • Perfect work vehicle? What are you smoking? I get they work for some people, but come on, they aren't and won't ever be a replacement for a truck. Try a 12 foot board? Or a bunch of messy car parts. Then have fun trying to clean that out of the carpet.

  • There's an OBD2 port concealed under the change tray next to the cigarette lighter. I was surprised to find even my 1994 850 Turbo wagon had one, even though it was an OBD1 car. It came in very handy clearing codes immediately before emissions inspections.

  • There is a rear sway bar and passive rear steering. Delta Link

  • Flying brick the second generation ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️✨it Great presentation big guys your awsome

  • To bad that new Volvo cars aren't anywhere close to the build quality and engineering as in the past... Today's Volvo cars are unreliable noise as hell ...Just the design is very good now days....

  • Is it just me or do these two dudes look like twins from another mother?

  • Man he can sell a car

  • Growing up I always wanted a Volvo Wagon.

  • Forgot the built-in child seats in the rear seats, great for toddler aged kiddos

  • Those non-adjustable headrests are the biggest thing I hate about Volvos. Sure, maybe it's safer in a crash, but it's not at all safe on my neck the rest of the time. I'm guaranteed to be sore after more than just a few minutes driving one. Maybe they've fixed it now, I haven't been in any of the new ones. But it made those seats painful for me.

  • I think a built in child / car seat was in the middle back seat.

  • Thank-you Wizard, Mrs. Wizard and Adriene, so much knowledge! You should invite Adriene for more Volvo videos.

  • give this man a job at volvo dealer

  • Lets walk around the car and notice dents. Well there is not that many dents. Spellbinding content.

  • The 1995 850 T-5R should have gotten a mention. Upgraded wheels and 240 hp. A buddy of mine had one from new. It was a lot of fun to drive.

  • Bug Ninja knows a lot about Volvos but there was one mistake this time: the 850 GLT was not a light pressure turbo car. It had a NA 2.4 with a 20V head, approx 170 horsepower.

    • There were a lot more mistakes than just one lol

  • Love the Volvo content, ima turbo redblock owner but always loved the 850 👍🏾👍🏾

  • This guest is very knowledgeable.

  • Only good European car that is reliable

  • My dad used to say that Volvo's are one of the safest cars out there.

  • The Audi Procon 10 safety system was very effective, but killed off by legislation demanding airbags. Steel cables ran through the front of the shell in a pulley system, and in the event of a heavy frontal impact, they pre-tensioned the seatbelts and pulled the steering column into the dashboard, away from the driver's head. It totalled the car, but saved lives.

  • Guy sounds like he would sing like Charley Pride.

  • Scotty Kilmer says Volvo is junk

  • Love these cars my mate bought an ex police one in the U.K.

  • Am I the ONLY PERSON that LoLz 😆 like no one’s business each & every time that a situation arises that warrants the Wizard to use, in all seriousness, the term “weep hole”❓❓#Wizard4President 🇺🇸

  • Oh great..2 guys with no personality...

  • Robert diy does not know his volvos 1994 is t5r

  • No It was not the fastest estate in the world !!!!!
